Travel & Things to Explore

Suzhou, known for its abundant natural resources and rich cultural heritage, is often referred to as "Heaven on Earth." Renowned for its picturesque landscapes and elegant gardens, it boasts the reputation of having the finest gardens in all of Jiangnan and being the best among them. Due to its ancient water town charm, characterized by small bridges and flowing streams, Suzhou is also dubbed the "Venice of the East." With a recorded history spanning over 4,000 years, the city was founded in 514 BC. Suzhou is a key scenic tourist city in China and a significant economic center in the Yangtze River Delta. It is an essential hub for the economy, foreign trade, commerce, industry, and logistics in Jiangsu. Furthermore, Suzhou serves as a vital center for culture, art, education, and transportation. Suzhou is the most populous city in Jiangsu and the southernmost city administered directly by the province.

This city is famous for its numerous water alleys and small bridges, with residences often found alongside these tranquil rivers. As a boat slowly navigates the water alleys in the gentle springtime, Suzhou reveals its delicate and graceful charm. Similar to its exquisite gardens, the city's spring scenery is quietly unveiled, accompanied by the soft Wu dialect and melodious Jiangnan tunes. Suzhou is indeed a place meant to be explored at a leisurely pace.

If it is your first visit to Suzhou, spending a day touring its gardens is highly recommended. Must-visit spots include the Humble Administrator's Garden, Lion Grove Garden, Tiger Hill, and Pan Gate. For repeat visitors, join us in seeking out the serene spring landscapes. Spend half a day at Shantang Street, followed by an afternoon stroll along Pingjiang Road. Dedicate a day and a half to exploring Xishan (West Mountain). In your remaining time, catch a traditional Suzhou Pingtan performance and visit the gardens by night. If pressed for time, you can customize your itinerary based on personal preferences.
